Browser Speed Tests: iPhone’s Mobile Safari vs. Opera Mini – Browser speed tests – Lifehacker
Apr 13th
It’s pretty clear that, while Opera Mini features seriously impressive page load times, it’s still behind Mobile Safari on several levels—some of its disadvantages are due to Safari’s advantaged position as the system default, some of them probably have more to do with the youth of Opera Mini on the iPhone platform. You will, however, notice the considerably faster page loads when you’re using Opera Mini, and with the web, speed is everything. If Opera could keep the speed and fix some of the rough edges, it could be really impressive.

The iPad Experience
Apr 13th
Like every gadget geek who isn’t an apple fan boy, I was confused whether to get the Apple iPad or not. On launch day, my gadget sense asked me to go to the Apple Store and we did. But guess what? We didn’t buy it.
Two days later, after reading all the reviews – I decided we needed an iPad. Now, to give you all some background, we have 2 Windows laptops, an iPhone 3GS and a Motorola Droid. One would assume that the iPad wouldn’t serve any purpose for me and my wife. But were we so wrong!
We just love the iPad. For us, the iPad is like the one gadget we go to for any quick information. Whether it is to check flight deals or google some recipe or check our emails – the iPad has totally replaced all the gadgets we have for the time being. And as a family gaming device, the iPad is the best thing out there. We have got hooked to playing Uno, Scrabble, Monopoly, Sudoku and we are loving the Apple Experience.
Like Steve Jobs said, this truly is a magical and revolutionary device.

Google Chrome to get bookmark syncing
Aug 3rd
Google Chrome will be getting bookmark syncing according to http://dev.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/sync
Update: The sync is to make sure different Google Chrome instances have the same data. The first step is bookmark syncing, but surprisingly bookmarks won’t be synced to Google Bookmarks but will use the Doclist API. This may mean that your Google Chrome bookmarks will be pushed to Google Docs!
Google Contacts and iPhone Sync – Birthday blues
May 13th
So, I was all excited that Google finally introduced the birthday field in the standalone version of Google Contacts. The official Google Apps post announced this yesterday. Alex Chitu, who maintains the wonderful blog, Google Operating System also mentioned this in his blog post.
Luckily, my Google contacts were synced to my iPhone and I immediately went ahead and updated the birthday fields of all my friends on Google Contacts. I just wanted to make sure things were fine on my iPhone, but to my surprise – iPhone was showing all birthdays a day earlier.
Google, please fix this soon!

Hypothesis: Building the Grand Unified Web 10.0
It’s a complex idea and I’ll try to explain it in as few sentences as I can. Imagine a single device that keeps you connected all the time. There are two things I’m targetting here.
1. The device itself. Something bigger than the iPhone and something as useful as a netbook (with a real keyboard).
2. The software that runs on the device.
I’m assuming someone already built the device. I’m here to talk about the software. What I wish to see, to build is a mash up of everything that is successful today and is attracting users everyday. Think of it as the Google-Facebook-Twitter-Yelp-Loopt/Latitude-Craigslist-Youtube-Scribd mash up. You see where I’m getting at. More about this idea later.
Palm Pre!
Apr 2nd
I’m seriously thinking of Palm Pre as my next hand held (Updated: Jump down for the video!).
Check out the newest Pre video here. Well, Palm’s been testing the patience of many folks. No release date. No hands-on allowed yet. So, nobody knows if the video is the real deal or it’s just a mock up. Will it be the one device that will beat iPhone? Oh well, there’s going to be a new iPhone out in June 09. So, let’s see how that goes!
